Udaan Actor Kavita Chaudhary Passes Away; Loses Battle Against Cancer – Exclusive
Television actress Kavita Chaudhary is fondly known for her performance as an IPS officer in the hit TV show, Udaan, which aired from 1989–1991. She has now passed away at the age of 67. She breathed her last in Amritsar on Thursday, February 15, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. The veteran actress was being treated at Paarvati Devi Hospital in Amritsar where she also suffered a cardiac arrest. Her last rites were held today. Amid this, Times Now Digital/ Telly Talk exclusively spoke to the hospital authorities and Kavita’s nephew to know more.
Kavita Chaudhary passes away
Kavita Chaudhary was suffering from cancer. Five days ago, she was brought in to Paarvati Devi Hospital in Amritsar in a serious condition. She died due to a cardiac arrest eventually on February 15 at 8 pm.
The hospital authorities told us exclusively, “She was in a very serious condition when she was brought in to our hospital. She was put on ventilator for 5 days and the doctors did their best to save her. However, there was nothing they could do. The family had told us that she had cancer but they didn’t give us any record of it. She was also asked to do chemotherapy but she didn’t do it. When she was in our hospital, she died of cardiac arrest.”
Kavita Chaudhary’s nephew Ajay Sayal told us, “She died of cardiac arrest. She had cancer earlier. Her last rites were held today. Mera to adha jeewan hi khatam ho gaya. She was everything to me – she was my friend, father, mother, brother, sister, teacher. I was the apple of her eye. Tomorrow we will go to Haridwar and then Mumbai to do the kriya and the prayers.”
He further said, “She had low BP suddenly and we rushed her to the hospital but the doctors couldn’t save her. She was not very sick too. She had ovarian cancer earlier which she got operated. It was cured.”
Kavita Chaudhary is well known for her portrayal of IPS officer Kalyani Singh in Udaan, which she wrote and directed too. She was the younger sister of police officer Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, whom Udaan was based on. Kanchan was the second IPS officer after Kiran Bedi. Kavita also produced two more television shows – Your Honour and IPS Diaries. Kavita was also known for playing Lalitaji in the famous Surf ads in the 1980s and 1990s.
