Manager Of Smoke & Vape Shop In Westport Accused Of Cannabis Sales: PD

WESTPORT, CT — A 29-year-old Bronx, New York man, who Westport police said is a manager at the smoke and vape shop Savvy Smoker, was arrested last week in connection with alleged cannabis sales in the store.

Omar Aliyhry surrendered to Westport police on April 26, and was charged with sale of 1 kilogram or more of cannabis, and conspiracy to commit the sale of 1 kilogram or more of cannabis.

The arrest is a followup from a Westport police raid of Savvy Smoker this past December. Police had received numerous complaints of alleged illegal activity at the store.

During the raid at the Post Road East shop, police seized the following:

  • Hundreds of jars of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes and vape cartridges
  • Containers of concentrated resin
  • Synthetic cannabinoids
  • Dozens of packages of THC gummies
  • Marijuana
  • Packaging materials

“Through the use of undercover officers buying illegal cannabis products and search warrants, Westport Police discovered that the business was allegedly selling illegal cannabis products in violation of their license,” wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement. “Omar Aliyhry was identified as a manager who was responsible for allegedly purchasing the items sold in the store.”

Westport police obtained an arrest warrant for Aliyhry, which led to the charges. He was released after posting bond on bail of $15,000, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 17.
