CVS to close Downtown Columbus location

The CVS Pharmacy location at 109 S. High Street will close in April.

CVS will close its downtown location at 109 S. High St. on April 1.

An email informing customers of the closure suggested they find a nearby store to continue shopping and filling prescriptions. The drugstore chain’s nearest locations are at 759 Neil Ave. and 591 E. Livingston Ave.

The closure reflects the commencement of a previously announced plan to close 900 stores, or about 10% of its locations, over the next three years. That move was announced late last year.

CVS said at the time the closures would be based on various factors, including “changes in population, consumer buying patterns and future health needs” as well as “the needs of underserved communities.” The company also committed to offering affected employees jobs in other locations.
