VIDEO: Canada’s Euthanasia Program Devalues Life – The American Spectator

LifeNews reported that a Canadian was euthanized because the person could not afford rent.

The report included a poll conducted by Research Co. that found that 27 percent of Canadians cite poverty as an acceptable reason for euthanasia. Twenty-eight percent of people in that same poll said that homelessness is also an acceptable reason for death.

Troubling stories keep arising in Canada of people who have been euthanized for an increasingly broad variety of reasons. Even so, Canada is looking to further broaden its criteria for euthanasia.

It is important to take a step back to consider what this new attitude means. When societies decide to normalize and validate ending a life as a solution to suffering, they devalue life’s sacredness. This sends a message that disregards hope.
