Newark’s Grayson Eller wins OAC youth wrestling state title


Grayson Eller was crowned a state champion last weekend.

The Legend Elementary student won the 55-pound weight class during the Ohio Athletic Committee Grade School state championships in Youngstown. Eller’s performance included three pins.

Two other wrestlers from Newark’s biddy team also earned medals. Aiden Elkins just missed joining Eller on the top step, taking runner-up at 120, and Bryson Bonner placed eighth at 180.

Previously, Newark’s Maximus Childers placed fourth at 114 during the OAC Junior High state championships, recording the Wildcats’ highest finish in the event’s history.
