Matthew Adams signs with Cleveland Browns to add linebacking depth

The Browns announced the signing of linebacker Matthew Adams on Tuesday, the first outside signing at that position this offseason.

Adams, 27, spent last season playing for the Chicago Bears. He played in 10 games for Chicago, playing 188 defensive and 205 special-teams snaps.

While with the Bears, Adams had 26 combined tackles, including 17 solo and two tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble.

The former 2018 seventh-round pick for the Indianapolis Colts out of the University of Houston, Adams spent his first four seasons playing with the team that drafted him. He had 55 combined tackles, including 40 solo and two tackles for loss, as well as a fumble recovery with the Colts.
