Licking County in urgent need of softball, baseball umpires for spring

Licking County is currently experiencing an umpire shortage. The Licking County Umpires Association is reaching out to the community in an attempt to fill the void.

To start the process, the Ohio High School Athletic Association is offering online rules training for anyone who would like to become a licensed high school or middle school softball or baseball umpire for the upcoming Spring season and beyond.

The first step is to go to the OHSAA officiating web site and sign up with email address and create a password.

The Licking County Umpires Association has an urgent need for new members. The OHSAA is offering a rules course for licensing in February.

Once you log in, on the left side: click on “Select a Course”, choose Softball or Baseball and hit Go. All courses are the same and start over the next few weeks. Interested persons will need to have a credit card and sign up a few days ahead of the classes.

Members of the LCUA are making themselves available to help you through the process. In addition to helping with the signing-up process, LCUA will be offering baseball mechanics clinics the first three Sundays of February from 3 to 6 p.m. at Heath Middle School.
