New Retailer Opens at Ohio Valley Mall | News, Sports, Jobs

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Daily Thread, a new clothing retailer, opened up shop this week inside the Ohio Valley Mall.

Daily Thread, a chain store with more than 80 locations, now occupies the former Justice location, which closed in summer 2020, near the center court area. The retailer’s slogan is “Affordable. Fashion. Everyday.”

Joe Bell, spokesman for the mall’s parent company Cafaro Co., said the store is a growing chain apparel shop that provides “fast fashion.”

“They deal in what is the latest trends, how quickly they can get that fashion to market and they offer exceedingly affordable prices,” he said.

Candi Noble-Greathouse, marketing manager of the mall, said she believes the store will be a good fit for the mall and its customers.

“We are so excited to add another clothing store to the mall. It’s going to be near center court, next to Home Decor by Caroline, so I think that’s a perfect fit. We’re really looking forward to welcoming them right off the holidays so people can spend their gift cards or just see another new choice,” she said.

The shop opened on Thursday and is offering a gift with purchase for customers that spend $50, according to a sign posted outside the location. The store’s hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to Daily Thread, Bell said there may be some smaller tenants coming in throughout the year, though he did not give specifics.

As for some other larger vacancies inside the mall, Bell said officials are still in talks with a “variety of potential users” for spaces such as the former Sears, which closed in July 2019, and the former Macy’s department store, which closed in March 2020.

He said those discussions are not far enough along at this point to announce anything.

“Those typically take many months, sometimes years, to work those out – especially when you have a space that large,” he said. “And sometimes what will happen is we end up subdividing that because a lot of retailers don’t require the same kind of large footprint as they used to. So we may do some renovations on that to customize the space for a potential end user.”

Bell noted that it may be a while before there is any news on any new tenants for the spaces.

“We are always working on it, and we’ll see what the New Year brings us,” he added.
