Inaugural Season Set for Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s lacrosse head coach Nick Myers announced Friday the Buckeyes’ 13-game 2023 schedule. The upcoming season marks the first to be played in the state-of-the-art Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.

“Our 2023 team will make Buckeye lacrosse history this spring as the first team to compete in our new home,” Myers said. “Words really can’t describe the excitement and anticipation our men have to get in there and get to work in the new year.”

Ohio State will host five non-conference opponents and welcome conference foes Rutgers and Maryland to Columbus this spring. This season features games against five 2022 NCAA tournament teams.

“We have put one of the strongest non-conference slates together that we have ever faced. We know that this will challenge and prepare us for the Big Ten gauntlet at the end of the season. We look forward to packing our incredible fans into the stadium for a lacrosse experience like no other. We grateful to all those who have turned this dream into a reality and look forward to making you all proud this spring.”

The Buckeyes will host preseason scrimmages against Lafayette (Jan. 21) and Robert Morris (Jan. 28) before officially opening the 2023 season. The game between Ohio State and Lafayette is a family affair for the Myers family as the Eagles are coached by Pat Myers, Buckeye lacrosse alum and younger brother of Coach Myers. The scrimmages are free to the public.

Ohio State officially kicks off its season with three straight home games against out-of-conference opponents. The team starts the 2023 campaign against Air Force on Feb. 4, followed by Cleveland State the next week (Feb. 11).  The Buckeyes will then host North Carolina on Feb. 19.

Making its first road trip of the season, Ohio State will meet Virginia in a neutral site matchup set for the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples, Fla. on Feb. 25.

The Buckeyes are set for a rematch against Cornell, who played in the 2022 national championship game, in Columbus on March 4. For the team’s final non-conference tilt of the regular season, Ohio State will host Detroit Mercy on March 14.

Ohio State opens conference play on the road this year, starting the Big Ten slate at Notre Dame on Feb. 11.

The Buckeyes close the regular season schedule with five straight Big Ten matchups, including home games against Rutgers (March 26) and 2022 national champion Maryland (April 9) and road contests at Penn State (April 1), Johns Hopkins (April 15) and Michigan (April 22).

This year’s Big Ten Tournament semifinals and finals will take place in Baltimore, Md. at Johns Hopkins. The quarterfinal games will be played at campus sites.

Tickets for Ohio State men’s lacrosse home games will go on sale at a later date. Information regarding season and single game ticket sales will be communicated when available.
