The artist takes handguns out of circulation, dissolves them in sulfuric acid and handcrafts limited edition writing ink from them. It’s a gallotannate of iron ink, which was a traditional ink used in historical documents ranging from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. This particular ink is best used with a quill, dip or reed pen, or brush (not fountain pens).

The hard cover, 225-page book documents murals created during the 2020 protests in Columbus and features writings by Black creatives on the continuing fight for social justice. The book is intended to serve as a time capsule and interactive experience that showcases the pain and struggle of the events of summer 2020, but also the beauty of the art, all while telling Columbus’ story and continuing the conversation and pushing for action in our city.
