G-MAC leader clips Lady Jackets back-to-back


CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican remains atop the G-MAC softball standings after winning a pair of close games at Cedarville.

The Panthers left town with 2-0 and 3-2 victories.

The hosts managed just three singles in the opener. Casey Bertke, 11-6, went all seven innings in the circle with five strikeouts.

In the nightcap, ODU scored two runs in the fifth and held on for the one-run win.

Each team totaled seven hits. Faith Bergner had two hits including a double for the Jackets, 18-13 overall and 3-7 G-MAC.

Bertke and Mariah Wallace had two hits apiece while McKenna Smith contributed a double.

Stinger Notes:

  • Smith, Arica Flaugher, and Lexi Parsons all singled in the opener.
  • Bertke’s complete game was her 12th of the season.
  • Smith started the second game going 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and no walks.
  • The Jackets committed just one error in the field.
  • Ohio Dominican holds a 55-12 advantage in the all-time series.
