Barbara Wilcox Obituary (1935 – 2022) – Lima, OH

LIMA — Barbara Helen (Pugh) Wilcox, 87 of Lima, passed away peacefully April 1, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born March 14, 1935 in Lima to William and Helen (Sullivan) Pugh, who preceded her in death. On January 15, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Wilcox, who preceded her in death on November 28, 2010. Barbara was a 1953 graduate of St. Gerard High School and continued her education at The Ohio State University where she studied Real Estate. She was a Real Estate Agent for over 48 years, most recently at Cowan Realtors, until her retirement in 2020. She loved her job, especially working with people and helping them find their forever homes. Barbara was a long-time member of St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church and also attended St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a member of the Elks and the Senior Citizen Center, where she sang in the choir. Most of all, Barbara loved people; she loved visiting with family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Her grandchildren could always find her at their events, supporting them and cheering them on. Barbara enjoyed traveling and particularly loved the year she spent in Germany as a newlywed while her husband was stationed there. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and she enjoyed her recent trip to Ireland with her brother, Tom. Barbara loved remaining active through walks, bike rides, boating at Indian Lake and swimming. She participated in the Senior Olympics in her 70s and 80s in which she won seven gold and five silver swimming medals. Barbara was deeply loved and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Barbara is survived by her five children, Kimberly (Ted) Wade, Steven (Kim) Wilcox, Scott (Carol) Wilcox, Thomas (Brenda) Wilcox and Amy (Mario) Menesse; grandchildren, Megan (Ben) Brenner, Michael Wade, Aubrey (Brad) D`Agnillo, Kelsey Wilcox, Dr. Matthew (Natasha) Wilcox, Mitchell Wilcox, Michael Menesse, Christopher Menesse, Jordan Calhoun and Chloe (Nate) Blum; great-grandchildren, Brooke Wade, Carson Brenner, Carter Brenner, Cameron Brenner, Maria D`Agnillo, Savannah Oglesbee and one great-grandchild on the way and many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, W. Thomas Pugh. Family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to the Interim Hospice Healthcare Team and her compassionate caregivers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 479 N. West St., Lima, OH 45801, with Father David Ross to officiate the service. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
