Roundup: Delphos Jefferson assured at least share of NWC crown in girls hoops


DELPHOS — Jefferson used a 21-5 first-quarter advantage to clinch at least a share of the Northwest Conference with a 65-26 victory Saturday in girls high school basketball.

Lyv Lindeman had 15 points and four assists, Gwen Teman and Joise McGue scored 10 each and Alycia Lindeman contributed four assists for the Wildcats (19-1, 7-0 NWC). Kendall Bollenbacher, Emerson Walker and Carsyn Looser had six points each for the Lancers (7-13, 1-6 NWC). Bollenbacher also had five assists.

Shawnee 62, LCC 21

LIMA — Zoe Best had 19 points and three steals, Grace Freiberger scored 17 and five rebounds, Cecelia Worsham had nine points and Ania Pearson finished with eight rebounds for Shawnee (18-1). Olivia Stolly had 12 points for Lima Central Catholic (6-14).

Leipsic 39, Kalida 34

KALIDA — The Vikings (16-5, 5-2 Putnam County League) recovered from an 11-7 first-quarter deficit to own a 16-12 halftime advantage. Whitney Langhals had 13 points and Ava Henry scored nine for Leipsic. Andrea Burgei had 12 points, Brooke Vennekotter scored eight and finished with four steals and brooke Erhart had eight rebounds for the Wildcats (10-10, 3-3 PCL).

MCGUFFEY — Courtney Sumner had 24 points and Olivia Burkhart scored 15 for Ada. Sydney Christensen and Patience Cole each had 10 points for USV.

COLDWATER — With here 14 rebounds, Allison Hughes holds the Parkway girls single season record with 333. Gabrielle Stober had 24 points and Emiree Knittle scored 12 also for the Panthers (13-7, 4-4 Midwest Athletic Conference). Riley Rismiller had 23 points and Becca Wenning and Jenna Leugers scored nine each for the host Cavaliers (10-10, 4-4 MAC).

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Anthony Best made a steal and got the ball to Brady Wheeler who scored at the buzzer to give the Indians (11-7) the victory against the No. 1 ranked D-IV Trojans (18-2).

Wheeler had 20 points and teammate Nick Pasion scored 12.

LIMA — The Elida girls and Liberty-Benton boys were the winners Saturday at 20th Century Lanes in the baker score format.

Elida defeated Shawnee in the finals after defeating Bath in the semifinals. Shawnee topped Liberty-Benton in the other semi.

Liberty-Benton topped Shawnee in boys final after topping Bath in the semis. and Shawnee triumphed against Elida in the other semi.

Shawnee was the top girls qualifier with a 1,529 10 baker game total followed by Bath (1,482), Elida (1,391), Liberty-Benton (1,376), Lima Senior (1,348), Ottawa-Glandorf (1,304) and Lima Central Catholic (1,096).

L-B (1,879) was the top boys qualifier followed by Elida (1,790), Shawnee (1,780), Bath (1,710), Lima Senior (1,653), Kenton (1,652), Ottawa-Glandorf (1,628), Temple Christian (1,417), Perry (1,377) and LCC (1,344)
