Ohio-based furniture retailer eyes new shipping hub south of Dallas

A fast-growing furniture retailer with showrooms across the U.S. is eyeing a major new shipping hub in southern Dallas County.

Arhaus is a high-end home furnishings firm that’s been in business since 1986.

The Ohio-based firm, which had its first public stock offering late last year, sells an extensive line of furniture, lighting, floor coverings and housewares. Arhaus designs and obtains its products from manufacturers around the world.

The company has 77 showrooms in more than two dozen states, including Dallas’ NorthPark Center and in Fort Worth. The company also has significant e-commerce sales.

Arhaus just added 230,000 square feet of space to its office and distribution center outside Cleveland.

And in its most quarterly recent earnings announcement, the company said it plans “to open another distribution facility in the western U.S. in 2022.”

Arhaus is looking at a warehouse and shipping center on Cleveland Road near Interstate 45 in Hutchins later this year, according to planning documents filed with the state.

The more than 490,000-square-foot distribution hub will be in the recently completed Interchange 20/45 business park and is being designed by Pross Design Group of Dallas.

The Interchange 20/45 industrial building is a project of Seefried Industrial Properties and USAA Real Estate and totals more than 800,000 square feet. CBRE Group has been marketing the big warehouse to tenants.

Arhaus is the latest big consumer products firm to put a major fulfillment center in southern Dallas County.

Wayfair has a large shipping hub in Lancaster, and Amazon has multiple distribution facilities in the industrial district along Interstate 20.
