COLUMBUS, Ohio – With finals in the rear view, No. 15 Ohio State heads to Las Vegas this Saturday to take on No. 21 Kentucky as part of the annual CBS Sports Classic at T-Mobile Arena. This will be the third meeting between the two teams in the event. UCLA and North Carolina will play the first game beginning at 3 p.m. and the Buckeyes and Wildcats will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET. Brad Nessler, Bill Raftery and Jamie Erdahl will call both games on CBS.

  • This is the eighth year of the CBS Sports Classic and the Buckeyes hold a record of 4-3 in the previous seven years. In addition to Kentucky, UCLA and North Carolina also compete in the annual event.
  • Ohio State and Kentucky are meeting for the third time in the CBS Sports Classic. The Buckeyes won the 2015 matchup in Brooklyn and then the most recent meeting in 2019 which was also at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
  • Overall, this will be the 22nd meeting all-time between Ohio State and Kentucky with the Wildcats holding a slim 11-10 edge in the series.
  • The Buckeyes are currently riding a season-high four-game win streak and have risen to a season-high 15 in both the AP and coaches polls.
  • Saturday’s game will be the fifth game against a ranked opponent this season for the Buckeyes. They are 3-1 with a win over No. 1-ranked Duke.
  • Kentucky opened the season with a loss to Duke, then won seven home games before falling at Notre Dame 66-62 last Saturday. Oscar Tshiebwe leads the country in rebounding at 14.4 rebounds per game.
  • J. Liddell has been in double-figures in every game and has posted five 20-point games this season. He leads the team and is third in the conference in scoring at 20.6 points per game. Liddell is also in the Top 10 in the country in free throws attempted with 75 (7.5 attempts per game).
  • Zed Key is second on the team in scoring at 10.4 and has scored 10 or more points six times this season. The Buckeyes are 11-0 when he reaches double-figures in scoring.
  • Kyle Young is coming off a career-high 14 rebounds in the win over Wisconsin. He is second on the team in rebounding at 6.7 rpg and is averaging 10.0 ppg.
  • The Buckeyes have shot 50 percent or better six times this season, including each of the last three games. They are second in the conference in both field goal percentage (49.1) and three-point percentage (38.6).
