Wabash Falls To Ohio Wesleyan In Home Lacrosse


Joseph Plencner scored an early goal for the Wabash College lacrosse team to tie the score in Wednesday night’s home North Coast Athletic Conference game against Ohio Wesleyan at 1-1. The visiting Battling Bishops turned on the offense from that point forward, defeating the Little Giants by a score of 32-1.
 
Plencner scored his 17th goal of the season in the third minute of the contest to pull Wabash (4-6, 0-5 NCAC) with Ohio Wesleyan (5-1, 4-1 NCAC) after the Battling Bishops notched a goal midway through the second minute of play. Ohio Wesleyan went on to score six more goals in the first period before adding 12 in the second for a 19-1 halftime lead. OWU scored five times in the third and added another eight goals in the fourth period.
 
Wabash starting goalkeeper Stephen Krajcir made 16 saves in 50 minutes of action before John Frey took over in the final eight minutes. The Little Giants caused a total of 13 turnovers led by Evan Schiefelbein who forced three. Schiefelbein also led the team with 13 ground balls. Neal Petting won 12 faceoffs for Wabash. The Little Giants managed 15 shots in the game and six on goal. AJ Rogers led the team with three total shot attempts. Will Goheen and Schiefelbein each put two shots on net in the contest.
 
Wabash will travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday to complete the two-game series with a game scheduled for 2 p.m.
