Edison power outage impacts 6,400 Thousand Oaks customers
A Southern California Edison power outage temporarily left more than 6,400 customers in Thousand Oaks without electricity Tuesday, a company spokeswoman said.
The outage began at 11:40 a.m. and impacted customers in an area bordered by Galsworthy Street to the north, Sunset Drive to the south, Duesenberg Drive to the east and Moorpark Road to the west, said spokeswoman Taelor Bakewell.
She said the outage “kept going kind of in and out,” resulting in customers having repeated blackouts.

The cause is under investigation but “is probably some kind of equipment issue” at Edison’s Thousand Oaks sub-station, Bakewell said.
As of 5:30 p.m., power had been restored to all but 23 customers, said Edison spokesman Robert Villegas. Those customers were expected to have power back by 8 p.m., he said.
The outage was unrelated to possible scheduled Edison power shutoffs Tuesday and Wednesday in response to critical fire weather moving into the region.
More than 15,000 of Edison’s customers in Ventura County could be impacted.
Utility companies throughout the state have implemented “public safety power shutoffs” in recent years in an effort to prevent their equipment from sparking wildfires.
