6,000 without power as winds subside
About 6,000 Duke Energy customers are without power Friday morning, following high winds overnight.
The National Weather Service canceled wind advisories and warnings for the Greater Cincinnati area at about 5:20 a.m.
“With winds weakening rather quickly near the Tri-State area & portions of Northern Kentucky, the High Wind Warning and Wind Advisories have been cancelled in these areas,” The weather service tweeted.
Still, winds could gust as high as 41 mph on Friday.
The power outages appear to be scattered about the region with a cluster of nearly 1,000 customers in the West Chester area affected, as of 7 a.m.
Duke Energy estimates power will be restored to the West Chester customers at about 9 a.m. Officials said the outage was caused by fallen trees or limbs damaging equipment.

The Dayton region was hit harder. AES Ohio, which serves the Miami Valley, says there are 22,541 AES customers without power, with most in Montgomery, Clinton, Greene and Logan counties.

The rest of the day is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. It will remain windy with gusts of 30-35 mph possible.
Some parts of Greater Cincinnati saw wind gusts above 50 mph, based on storm report information sent to the National Weather Service.
CVG saw gusts as high as 46 mph; Oxford saw gusts as high as 52 mph and Lawrenceburg saw gusts as high as 56 mph.
Some areas of Dayton recorded gusts above 60 mph, with Kettering reorting 63 mph gusts to the National Weather Service.
