Police, State Agents, Nab 2 In Danbury Vape Shop Stings

According to a news release Thursday from the DPD, the focus of the joint operation was enforcement of vape shop regulations as they apply to sales to minors, the sale of CBD products with THC concentration beyond allowable levels, and the outright sale of illicit THC products.

On March 27, members of the Danbury Police Department, and Connecticut Departments of Consumer Protection, Revenue Service and Mental Health & Addiction Services visited Star Rose at 2-4 Mill Ridge Road, The Smoke Lab at 10 Main Street, CT Smoke House Inc. at 10 Mill Plain Road, and Cloud House at 60 Newtown Road.

As police investigators determined that The Smoke Lab was selling illegal marijuana to some of their customers, officers entered the location under the authority of a search and seizure warrant issued by the superior court, according to the police statement. Enforcement action has previously been taken against Star Rose and Cloud House, police said.

Officers found that all four shops had made an illegal sale of tobacco products to an underage person.

Additionally, police estimate they seized more than 30 pounds of illicit THC products from Star Rose, which they said operated as a drug factory, with equipment for THC products to be weighed, processed and packaged for sale.

The Smoke Lab also operated as a drug factory, police said. It was the distribution hub for more than 21 pounds of illicit THC products and CBD packaged products with THC concentrations beyond allowable levels.

At Smoke House, police found nearly 27 pounds of illicit THC products with concentrations beyond allowable levels.

Police found more than 35 pounds of THC products at Cloud House, along with CBD packaged products with THC concentration beyond allowable levels.

Police charged a 24-year-old Eden Drive woman from The Smoke Lab and a 21-year-old Concord Street man from Star Rose with operating a drug factory, sale of narcotics, and possession of more than a kilogram of cannabis with intent to sell.

The investigation into the operations of the four shops is ongoing,
