Another feather has been added to Grammy-winning musician, Padmashree Shankar Mahadevan. Recently, a double doctorate was given to Grammy winner Padmashree Dr Shankar Mahadevan. The Honourable Chancellor & President Dr Vijay Patil, DY Patil (Deemed to be University), Navi Mumbai conferred an Honorary Doctorate to Grammy Winner Padmashree Dr. Shankar Mahadevan for his contribution in the field of Arts & Society at large at the 18th Convocation Ceremony at the DY Patil Grounds on Saturday 16th March’2024.
Shankar Mahadevan has had a spate of wins in the last one year. This is his second honorary Doctorate, the first one being awarded by the University of Birmingham in June 2023 and most recently he won the Grammy for Shakti.
After winning a Grammy at the Grammys 2024, Shankar Mahadevan took to Instagram to express his joy over this achievement, saying, “WE DID IT ❤️I never imagined that a band from where I have learnt my music and my musical aesthetics would be the band with whom I would eventually perform and win a Grammy. This is the moment from which i can easily say that dreams do come true. Shakti was a dream which came true! thank you Almighty for making this happen! It’s truly “THIS MOMENT” ❤️????????”
