Hanover Hosts 2023 Annual Chili Cook-off

Small town Americana is alive and well, especially when Hanover puts out the Chili.

The Fourth Annual Chili and Soup soiree was hosted by Mike Flowers, Jason Black, family and friends of Hanover, and all “chipped in” to help make the day exceptional.

40 types of chili and soup were registered at the event, along with a spread of desserts and side dishes. Add live music by local favorite Landon Tom and the Sons of Maverick, and even a bit of rain couldn’t stop Landon’s guitar from playing.

The cook-off was a place for young and old alike, with a playground, fishing, a bonfire, and plenty of fresh air. Our reporter noted that grass stains seemed to be in abundance, but what would small town fun be without them?

Winners in the events categories were as follows:

1. Brooke Hupp (Best silent fart award)

2. Macy Flowers (Peoples Choice award)

3. Troy Layton (Judge’s Choice award)

4. Ted Fox (The Rookie Mistake award)

Congratulations to the Chefs, the organizers, and the people who enjoyed this fine event!
