A Louisiana law is paving the way in reducing traffic to adult content sites. In June of 2022, Louisiana passed a law requiring people to upload their IDs for age verification to access these sites, with Arkansas recently enacting similar legislation.

Politico reports that these age-verification laws are working, as traffic to Pornhub is down 80 percent in Louisiana. This follows Pornhub’s decision to leave states rather than enforce the requirements that would prevent minors’ access.

Pornography is plaguing America, and it is incredibly harmful to both minors and adults.

Fight the New Drug reports that 84 percent of 14- to 18-year-old males and 57 percent of females of the same age have viewed pornography. More broadly, the Institute for Family Studies reports that approximately 60 percent of Americans have admitted to viewing porn. Watching porn changes a person’s brain chemistry and impacts his or her personal relationships negatively. The industry also fuels sex trafficking.

With so many struggling with addiction, many resources have been made available to help people quit.

More states should take notes from this legislation, which has thus far shown effective results in the right direction.
