The Ludicrous Christopher Wray – The American Spectator

In his appearance before the House Judiciary Committee this week, FBI Director Christopher Wray said this:

I will say this notion that somehow the violence at the Capitol on January 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and agents is ludicrous and is a disservice to our brave, hardworking dedicated men and women.

He also said:

If you are suggesting that the violence that happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or FBI agents, the answer is ‘no, it was not’ and to suggest otherwise is a disservice to our hardworking, dedicated law enforcement professionals

And in a ludicrous blink, Wray denied the long-documented history of the FBI when it comes to infiltrating and orchestrating violent acts appearing to come from this or that group the bureau views with a suspicion of potential violence.

Let’s take a look back at what Wray so ludicrously decides to ignore.

Start with this September 2021 headline from the New York Times:

Among Those Who Marched Into the Capitol on Jan. 6: An F.B.I. Informant

Here’s a 2021 headline from the Christian Science Monitor:

FBI informant describes life undercover with the KKK in Florida

The paper reports:

For nearly 10 years, Joseph Moore lived a secret double life.

At times the U.S. Army veteran donned a white robe and hood as a hit man for the Ku Klux Klan in North Florida.

He attended clandestine meetings and participated in cross burnings. He even helped plan the murder of a Black man.

However, Moore wore something else during his years in the klan — a wire for the FBI. He recorded his conversations with his fellow klansmen, sometimes even captured video, and shared what he learned with federal agents trying to crack down on white supremacists in Florida law enforcement.

Got that? The man in question was an FBI informant who infiltrated the Klan, acted as a “hit man” for the Klan, and participated in cross burnings. “He even helped plan the murder of a Black man.”

Then there was the FBI’s involvement in the bizarre plot to kidnap Michigan’s Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Here’s the headline from the Washington Examiner in 2021:

FBI informants had bigger role in Whitmer kidnap plot than thought: report

The Examiner reported:

Members of an anti-government group accused of hatching a plan to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer claim they were set up by more than a dozen FBI agents who had infiltrated the organization and played a key role in the plot, according to a new report.

…But a closer look into the foiled kidnapping by BuzzFeed revealed that some of the informants the government used appeared to play a far greater role in the plot than had been previously reported. In fact, the informants had a hand in nearly every aspect of the twisted machination, including its inception.

Then there was the interesting case of “Playpen.” The record reveals that Playpen was a “pedophile website.” And as noted here:

‘Playpen’ was the name of the dark web’s most notorious pedophile site, counting 215,000 member users and hosting 23,000 pornographic videos and photos of children. Because of how it was anonymized on the dark web, FBI agents were prevented from shutting it down because they could not establish that its servers or administrators were based in the United States.

That is, until one day when an administrator accidentally revealed the site’s IP address. The FBI quickly moved in, but interestingly, instead of immediately shutting the site down, the FBI decided to take over as administrator.

For nearly two weeks FBI agents found themselves in the strange position of running one of the world’s largest child pornography websites, pretending to be the administrators they had arrested. This was necessary because it was the only possible way to identify other members of the website by tricking them into downloading malware which would reveal their identities.

Agents were able to pass themselves off as administrators long enough to discover the identities of 1,500 suspected pedophiles worldwide, and secure charges against 137 of those in the US.

Then there was this headline from just this week in the Federalist:

FBI Colluded With Russian-Infiltrated Agency In Ukraine To Censor Americans

Back there in 2020 the Intercept headlined this:

A SHORT HISTORY OF U.S. LAW ENFORCEMENT INFILTRATING PROTESTS

For decades, local police and FBI have sent undercover officials to participate in — and escalate — protests.

One could go on — and on and on — with examples of the FBI infiltrating this or that group and engaging in violence or even pedophilia to make their infiltrators look authentic to the group members that surround them. Hanging with everybody from the Klan to the Mafia to leftist domestic terrorists (the Weather Underground) to Neo-Nazis, pedophiles, and, currently, Russians — there is nothing in the least “ludicrous” about the idea that the FBI infiltrated the Jan. 6 protesters.

Amazingly, over in the media there is now-departed Fox journalist Geraldo Rivera taking shots at former Fox host Tucker Carlson for what Geraldo called “conspiracy theories” about the involvement of the FBI on Jan. 6.

Conspiracy theories? Say what?

As noted, it is not Tucker Carlson “conspiracy theories” but documented, historical fact — as shown above, with many more examples out there — that the FBI has regularly infiltrated various groups left and right over the decades, egging members on to violence and participating in same.

Why would Jan. 6 be any different? Not to mention that no less than the New York Times long ago headlined that yes, in fact, there was indeed at least one FBI informant involved in the breech of the Capitol.

Simply accepting Wray’s description that any FBI infiltration and/or orchestration of the day’s events is “ludicrous” — when the bureau has a very long, documented history of doing exactly that — is willfully blinding the American people to the facts of history.

The real question now?

What are House Republicans going to do about any FBI involvement in the events of Jan. 6?

And when will they do it?
