Purdue lands pledge from rising safety D’Mon Marable

A two-day visit to Purdue this past weekend resulted in the commitment of rising 2024 safety D’Mon Marable.

The Clinton, Tennessee saw his recruiting stock soar in recent months, picking up new offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Colorado and others.

However, in the end, his visit with the Boilermakers proved to be the difference-maker.

Marable details that visit to West Lafayette and his commitment and his pledge to new head coach Ryan Walters and the Boilermakers below.

– On what made him go ahead and commit to Purdue:

“When I visited, I was with a couple of my teammates, and the whole coaching staff was at the front door when we walked in. They let us know who they were and made us feel at home. The second reason was the defensive scheme they run, I feel like I could be successful in that. The facilities, the school, and the coaching staff were also great.”

– On his relationship with safeties coach Grant O’Brien:

“He has a great personality. He’s a great man. He treats all of his players the same. He’s a great coach on the field and off the field as well. He treats his players like a family.”

– On what Purdue’s coaches like about his film and skill set:

“They think I can fit great in their scheme because I am physical and I can cover.”

– On his conversations with head coach Ryan Walters:

“They went great. After I got done talking to him, I committed. He’s a great guy. He presents himself well and it just felt like home whenever I got done talking to him. We were both fired up when I told him.”
