A 29-year-old man’s right lung collapsed and had to be surgically inflated due to the after-effects of long-term vaping and smoking. According to The Sun, Jordan Snowdon suffered symptoms like throbbing pains and breathlessness, which he thought was a deadly heart attack. Read on to know other side effects of vaping.
Jordan said even though he used to vape occasionally to kill boredom, he got addicted
A young fisherman, who thought throbbing pains and breathlessness were due to a heart attack, was diagnosed with a collapsed lung, due to his vaping addiction.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jordan Snowdon, who thought he was dying from the life-threatening cardiac issue collapsed on his bedroom floor after waking up from sleep with similar symptoms.
However, according to The Sun, after undergoing emergency tests and an x-way Jordan was doctors confirmed his right lung had “caved in”. He then had a 6ml drain inserted into his chest, along with keyhole surgery to inflate his lung.
Jordan said he had swapped cigarettes for vapes five years ago and would sometimes experience a “cold air” sensation down his throat. But he shrugged off the initial signs of a lung problem, thinking it was not serious.
Began smoking to kill boredom
Jordan said even though he used to vape occasionally to kill boredom, he got addicted and was always seen smoking by his friends and family.
However, with the help of medical treatment now, Jordan has been able to save his important organ and says has also understood the value of his life.
“I’d gone to my mum’s house that morning and I felt tired, so I went and laid down on the bed in my old room and dropped off to sleep. I woke up in sharp pain. It felt like someone had gripped my heart. I couldn’t talk or breathe properly, and I hit the floor. I thought I was having a heart attack,” he told The Sun.
“I was so scared, and I thought I was going to die at this point,” Jordan added.
Doctors surgically inflated his lungs
According to reports, doctors had to fit suction drains along Jordan’s chest to keep inflating his lung and make it work properly.
Even though he has not been discharged from the hospital, Jordan says the doctors told him that his lung would take months to heal.
“What happened is life-changing. It’s devastating. I love being outdoors. I’m still waiting for my lung to heal two weeks after my operation. Doctors said it could take weeks, months, or even years, it just depends,” he said.
What are the side effects of vaping?
