Newark graduate Ty Pangborn earns national recognition

It did not take long for Ty Pangborn to begin dominating opposing hitters at the college level for Cuyahoga Community College.

The Newark graduate recently was named the NJCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week. Pangborn, a freshman right-hander, received the honor after being named the OCCAC Pitcher of the Week.

Pangborn struck out 12 in five hitless innings during a 17-0 victory against Lorain Community College on March 16. He later came out of the Tri-C bullpen and struck out eight in four hitless innings during a 6-5 victory against Terra State.
