Lydia Sturgeon leads Granville girls swimming to sectional title



Lydia Sturgeon had a hand in four victories Saturday, leading the Granville girls swim team to the championship during the morning Division II sectional at Columbus School for Girls.

Sturgeon won the 200 freestyle (1:58.37) and 100 backstroke (1:00.26). She also joined Hannah Hardin, Brooke Lemert and Grace Largent on the winning 200 medley relay (1:53.64) and Hardin, Lemert and Caroline Otter on the winning 400 free relay (3:43.64), qualifying to Thursday’s district meet at Ohio State.

Lemert added a win in the 500 free for the Blue Aces, who totaled 290 points, finishing ahead of CSG’s 251.

Lemert also took runner-up in the 200 free (2:00.94), Hardin second in both the 50 free (24.91) and 100 free (54.43), Largent second in the 200 individual medley (2:27.09) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.63), Sydney Lauffer third in the 200 IM (2:30.49) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.11). Largent, Lauffer, Otter and Carmen Wells placed third in the 200 free relay (1:49.82).
