Duston sparks Heath boys in win at Utica
After missing a game with injury, Heath sophomore Jaxon Duston returned in a big way Friday, popping in 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter of a 56-47 Licking County League-Cardinal Division win at Utica.
Duston, Preston Devito and Brayden Bayle all hit 3-pointers during a decisive 17-3 third-quarter run for the Bulldogs (9-4, 6-3), who trailed 26-24 at the half. Devito and Jordan Kaminsky added nine points apiece.
Roman Gamble poured in 21 points and Zach Heckman added 14 for the Redskins (10-5, 5-4), who played without LCL scoring leader Trenton Collins.
Vikings keep rolling
Ethan Payne led a balanced effort with 11 points and seven rebounds Friday as visiting Northridge maintained its stranglehold on first place in the LCL-Cardinal with a 51-30 win against Newark Catholic.
Justin Townley added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Carter Mallernee had 10 points and three assists for the Vikings (11-3, 9-1).
Griffin Urdarowski made a trio of 3s for nine points, while Eli Morris had eight points for the Green Wave (2-12, 1-9).
Johnstown romps
Brady Barb tossed in 12 points and Drew Brett added 11 for Johnstown (9-6, 6-3) on Friday in a 51-17 LCL-Cardinal victory at Lakewood.
Colton Ferry’s seven points led the Lancers (1-15, 0-9).
Hornets cruise
Amadou Ceesay’s 14 points led visiting Licking Heights on Friday in a 68-44 LCL-Buckeye Division win against Licking Valley.
Jaden Griffith added 12 points and Toure Young 11 for the Hornets (8-9, 6-3).
Kam Walker and Chase Vermillion scored eight points each for Panthers (6-9, 4-5).
Warriors edged
Ethan Ryan had 12 points for host Watkins Memorial on Friday in a 48-45 LCL-Buckeye setback against Zanesville.
Sam Johnson tacked on 10 points and Cole Massie nine for the Warriors (7-7, 3-6).
Rashaud Hampton pumped in 21 points for the Blue Devils (3-11, 3-6).
Eagles soar
Evan Adair scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds Friday as host Liberty Christian (7-8) romped past Ross County Christian 74-43.
Josh Onabanjo added 25 points, Kaden Minier had six rebounds and six steals, while Caleb Reichert snagged seven rebounds for the Eagles (7-8).

Tigers claw Wildcats
Syncere Royster’s eight points led host Newark on Friday in a 52-25 Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division loss to Pickerington Central.
Ally Carr added a pair of 3s for the Wildcats (8-9, 4-3).
