What Are Player Props?

Player props are wagers made on the outcome of certain statistics that a player will perform in a game or match. If we take football for example, a player prop could be passing yards, passing touchdowns, receiving yards, receptions, rushing yards, rushing attempts or odds for a player to score a touchdown.

Those are just some of the most basic types of NFL player props. However, depending on the sportsbook, you may see even more betting markets.

Similarly, you can bet on many types of statistical outcomes for other sports too. Over/Under bets on goals, assists, shots and saves in hockey are pretty standard. In basketball, you can bet on point totals, plus assists, blocks, steals, rebounds, fouls and more.

With Ohio sports betting launching, you’ll now be able to bet on all of your favorite players from each of your local teams. Sign up at one of the top Ohio sportsbooks to bet player props from teams like:

Next up, let’s look at the running backs and receivers from that game and what sorts of player props we can wager on for those players.

We can see that in the Rush/Rec props section that there are props for rushing yards and receiving yards to start with. There are even more if you were to scroll through the entire market. We’ll pick Joe Mixon to go Over 53.5 rushing yards and Ja’Marr Chase to go Over 86.5 receiving yards from this section.

All of these prop bets are eligible to be bet as single bets. To keep things simple, we’ve entered a potential $10 wager for each one. The payout for each is listed under each wager in the bet slip and includes both the initial wager and potential winnings. For instance, a $10 bet on Mixon to score a TD at -125 odds returns $18. That is your wager ($10) and another $8 (winnings) in this example.

You can see more payout examples in the image for the other bets as well.

These are just a few of the many types of playr prop bets you can make when betting on sports in Ohio. You can dive much deeper into the player prop market, as well as team props such as team points, team touchdowns, field goals, and more as you continue to bet on legalized Ohio sports betting.
