GMA3 ‘Best Friends’ T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach Pulled From Air Over Affair – The American

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, hosts of the Good Morning America afternoon spinoff GMA3: What You Need to Know, have remained off the air for six straight shows after being removed from television by ABC after they were discovered to be having an affair. The network has continued to hold internal discussions on how to address the situation between Holmes and Robach, who appear to be unashamed at the exposure of their taboo romance.

The affair between the co-hosts was made public on Nov. 30 by the Daily Mail, which managed to obtain pictures of the two anchors rendezvousing at a bar and later vacationing together upstate. Page Six reported that Holmes and Robach had been carrying on their affair since the pair began training for the New York City Half Marathon in March of this year. While Holmes and Robach took precautions to avoid being discovered, they evidently weren’t careful enough.

Holmes and Robach’s affair caused no small amount of consternation among their co-workers and has proved to be an enormous headache for executives at ABC. The initial report of the affair left the heads at ABC scrambling frantically to address the embarrassing revelations about two of their top hosts. Meanwhile, Holmes and Robach’s behavior was causing their co-workers to become distracted and distressed, with Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts in particular confronting the two and demanding that they cease the affair immediately. Despite the trouble they have caused, the New York Post has reported that both Holmes and Robach are expected to remain with the network in spite of their behavior.

Holmes and Robach’s spouses, on the other hand, have not remained with them. Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue, Holmes and Robach’s respective spouses, separated from them in August. Fiebig, in particular, was shocked by her husband’s affair and felt devastated when she discovered his infidelity.

However, the affair with Robach could represent just one example of a larger pattern of behavior on Holmes’ part. Holmes allegedly had affairs with multiple ABC staffers, including producer Natasha Singh, who was married at the time of her affair with Holmes. The additional flings could put Holmes in additional hot water with ABC, as affairs with less senior staffers may have violated company policies against having relationships with junior employees.

In a twist of irony, Holmes told the New York Post weeks before the revelations that being a host on GMA3 was his “dream job” and that he was incredibly happy to be able to work with his “best friend,” Robach. Evidently, the possibility of jeopardizing his dream job was not enough for Holmes to reconsider his liaisons with the co-host who had proven to be a little bit more than simply his “best friend.”
