Londot leads Ohio State volleyball past Minnesota, into Elite 8


Ohio State junior Emily Londot had a career-high 29 kills Thursday, leading the Buckeyes past Minnesota 3-1 in the NCAA regional semifinals.

AUSTIN, Texas ― Ohio State junior Emily Londot came up big when the Buckeyes needed her the most Thursday.

The 6-foot-3 opposite hitter and Utica product pounded a career-best 29 kills, as third-seeded OSU rallied past second seed Minnesota 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 in the NCAA Division I regional semifinals.

Londot, a two-time All-American recently named AVCA Northeast Region Player of the Year, also had 13 digs and two blocks as the Buckeyes (22-9) reached their first regional final since 2004. They’ll play top-seeded host Texas (25-1), which overpowered fourth seed Marquette 3-1, at 6 p.m. Saturday for a Final 4 berth.

The match will be televised live on ESPNU.
