Ohio State vs. Michigan Bettors Clearly Leaning One Way Ahead Of Rivalry Game –
The Ohio State Buckeyes are currently 7.5-point favorites over the Michigan Wolverines just days before “The Game” this Saturday.
With such a wide spread between the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the country, the public has reportedly made a decisive stand on one side of the Vegas line.
According to college football analyst James Yoder, 95% of the total money wagered on “The Game” has come on the side of Michigan plus the points.
“A whopping 95% of the money bet online through US sports books on the Michigan – Ohio State game so far has been bet on Michigan + the points,” Yoder announced Tuesday.
This isn’t the first time in recent history that the Buckeyes have opened as big favorites against the Wolverines.
In fact, in three of the past four matchups between the teams dating back to 2018 (“The Game” was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID), Ohio State has entered the rivalry game greater than 7-point favorites.
The only game in that span where Ohio State wasn’t favored came in 2018. The Buckeyes, despite being 4.5-point underdogs in Columbus that year, beat the Wolverines 62-39.
Ohio State’s win as an underdog in 2018 marked just the second time since 2005 that the favorite did not win the game outright. The other came last season, when as a 7-point home dog, Michigan beat Ohio State 42-27.
Though the line for Saturday’s contest currently has the Buckeyes around a touchdown favorite, the status of Michigan’s Blake Corum will surely impact Vegas’ odds one way or another. The lead running back for the Wolverines is questionable to play this weekend with a knee injury.
There’s certainly a lot on the line in the final weekend of Big Ten play, with both Michigan and Ohio State seeking a berth in the conference championship and then, hopefully, a trip to the College Football Playoff.
