Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate face off in KCCI debate in Iowa


KCCI hosted a live debate Saturday night among the three Democratic candidates running for U.S. Senate ahead of Iowa’s primary on June 7. The candidates faced each other at KCCI’s studios in Des Moines. Candidates were given one minute to answer questions and had the opportunity to respond when mentioned by another candidate.The candidates who participated were: Abby Finkenauer, Michael Franken and Glenn Hurst. The winner of the primary will face either current U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley or challenger Jim Carlin, a state senator in the general election. Each Democratic candidate weighed in on crucial issues facing Iowans. All three of these candidates believe in extreme positions that are completely out of step with Iowans. In November, Iowans will reject the Democrats’ woke culture war.”

The Iowa Republican Party released a statement following the debate.

Party Chair Jeff Kaufmann said, “It’s sad to see how woke the Democrat Party has become since (President) Joe Biden took office.
