Roundup: Ohio Northern stays unbeaten in OAC men’s lacrosse


ADA — Sebastian Michaud tied his career high with four goals as the Ohio Northern men’s lacrosse team stayed on top of the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with a 9-4 victory Saturday against Marietta on a snowy Saturday at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears extended their winning streak to six games and improved to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the OAC, while the Pioneers fell to 2-10 (0-5).

MARIETTA — Elizabeth Graham cored a pair of goals, including the game-winner at Marietta Field.

The Polar Bears improved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the OAC while the Pioneers fell to 6-6 (0-5 OAC).

Emma Perry paced the Northern offense with three goals, while Avary Snyder and Meredith Miller joined Graham with two goals each.

DEFIANCE — Ohio Northern finished second out of four teams at the weather-shortened Defiance Yellow Jacket Spring Invitational on Friday at Eagle Rock Golf Club.

The Polar Bears (24-27-4 overall) finished with a 315-149—464 over 27 holes. Tiffin won the tournament with a 451, Alma (Mich.) was third with a 494 and Defiance did not field a complete 27-hole team score.

Andrew Slusher led Ohio Northern with a second place finish out of 38 players, carding a 4-over par 112.

Josh Steyer tied for fifth with a 114, Van Wert graduate Jared Hernandez was 10th with 1,172 and Nolan Kimberly tied for 13th with a 121.

OBERLIN — Andrew Buderer led a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault for Ohio Northern men’s track and field team Friday at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.

Friday marked the first of two days for the Invitational, which is not being team scored.

Buderer cleared a height of 4.61 meters to come out on top in the pole vault.

Luke Shellhaas placed second with a height of 4.46 meters and Brandt Marshall finished third with a height of 4.31 meters.

The Polar Bears added three more top-three finishes courtesy of Jack Lehr and Tommy Vetrovsky and Keegan Digby.

Lehr placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 45.05 meters.

Vetrovsky and Digby posted respective distances of 46.96 meters and 42.84 meters to finish second and third in the hammer throw.

Schatzle second

for Polar Bears

OBERLIN — Junior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) set a new personal-best mark in the pole vault to lead the Ohio Northern women’s outdoor track and field team on Friday at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.

Friday marked the first of two days for the Invitational, which is not being team scored.

Schatzle led the ONU contingent with her second-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.61 meters.

Olivia Ogg finished right behind Schatzle in third, clearing a height of 3.31 meters.
