South Carolina transfer Jermaine Couisnard talks schools involved, visits

South Carolina transfer Jermaine Couisnard is starting to set up visits. Couisnard averaged 12 points and 3.2 assists this season.

“So far Maryland, Ohio State, UMass, Oregon, Houston, and DePaul have been showing heavy interest,” he said. I’ll be taking a visit to Maryland and Ohio State soon but don’t have the exact dates. They are coming up in a week or so.”

“Right now Maryland and Ohio State are the only ones I’ve set up. I will be taking one to Oregon as well but I don’t have a date on that but I know i’ll visit there. Gonzaga is also a possibility. I’m just seeing if the right players leave for me to have interest.”

Maryland: “That relationship is going well. They treat me like family and tell me how they run their program and stuff like that. Their message has been I can be an alpha dog for them. I would adjust to their offense. They plan on doing a lot of pick and rolls for me.”

Ohio State: “Their message is similar to Marylands. They want me to be myself and play into the structure of getting me into ball screens where I’m more dominant. I also have a good relationship with the staff. It has been going well and I’ve been talking to them every day. We have been just going back and forth talking about basketball and things like that.

Oregon: “Oregon has been a dream school for me since I was young so whichever situation I go into I want to make sure it’s right for me.”

Gonzaga: “They’re in the air. I haven’t seen anything about their guards leaving so I’m just weighing my options and seeing what’s going on.”

There’s no exact date for a commitment for Couisnard, but he looks to commit sometime in May.

“I don’t have a date but I want to decide by May for sure,” he said. “I just want to be a part of a winning program, and a team that I know is going to play in the postseason. I want to be able to be myself where my coach trusts me and believes in me.”
