SCANLON AND MOTT REPEAT AS OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE BEACH VOLLEYBALL PAIR OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – This afternoon, the Ohio Valley Conference crowned University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball senior Karen Scanlon and redshirt freshman Dylan Mott as its Pair of the Week for the second straight time.

Scanlon and Mott now tie current teammates Haeleigh Paulino and Logan Wallick for the most OVC Pair of the Week mentions in school history. Currently, the Skyhawks have had a representative named as an OVC Pair of the Week honoree 44.4 percent the time since the award was instituted in 2020.

Playing out of the No. 1 position in the lineup, Scanlon and Mott went undefeated last week against the best that the competition had to offer. They helped set the tone for an impressive home weekend as UT Martin won three of four matches at the Skyhawk Beach Invitational.

Scanlon/Mott started the two-day event with a 21-18, 21-19 victory over Liberty’s Kaitlyn Holbrook/Lizzy Armstrong on Friday morning. Later that evening, the Skyhawk duo teamed up to defeat Lara Torruella/Samantha Mehlman (14-21, 21-18, 15-13) from Tulane, who was ranked No. 21 nationally.

On Saturday, Scanlon/Mott came away with a 21-14, 21-16 win against Missouri State’s Tylar Garrett/Mya Young before extending their season winning streak out to five matches with a convincing 21-6, 21-11 victory over Ottawa’s Taylor Mobley/Randi Johnson – clinching the team win in the process.

Hailing from Scottsdale, Ariz. and Hendersonville, Tenn., respectively, Scanlon and Mott are 10-3 overall this season with all matches coming at No. 1.

UT Martin returns to action in a little over a week when it hosts North Alabama for an April 13 double dual. The home finale is set for 2 and 4 p.m. at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex.
