Lake Development Authority officially names new CFO, director of public finance –

Mohorcic (Submitted)

The Lake Development Authority continued adjusting staff roles this week with the promotion of Patrick Mohorcic to director of public finance and CFO, replacing Timothy Cahill.

Cahill is transitioning to a part-time position as bond and public finance advisor for the remainder of 2022.

Myranda Keister was recently hired to take on Mohorcic’s previous position of director of planning and development.

Mohorcic, 26, noted that Cahill has been a great mentor over the last four years.

“I am grateful to be filling his shoes in this senior management role,” he said. “Tim has been instrumental in working behind the scenes to bolster Lake County’s economy. Under Tim’s leadership, the Lake Development Authority has issued over $180 million in development bonds, creating over 300 jobs. He deserves our highest gratitude.”

Cahill added, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Patrick. He has a passion for our community and a thirst for knowledge in order to maximize his contribution to the success of Lake County. I look forward to assisting him as he transitions into his new role.”

Mohorcic started with the then Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority in 2018, where he was employed as the economic development manager, responsible for expanding its business outreach program, designed to connect county businesses with the resources of business and workforce development in Lake County.

In the business expansion and retention role, he surpassed set goals by implementing new programs valuable to Lake County employers and potential employees, according to the board.

Mohorcic also worked with Laketran to implement the pilot program “TransitGo,” which provides bus passes to employers to pass on to employees, reducing the transportation barrier for those who want to get to work.

In cooperation with Mentor Schools, he spearheaded “Career Bound: College Internship and Job Fair” at Mentor Paradigm in December 2019, and developed a business registration platform that served as a one-stop concept to aid companies through the process of opening a business in Lake County.

In addition, Mohorcic received the “Rookie of the Year” Award from the Ohio Economic Development Association during its annual meeting in 2019 and was named to “Crain’s Cleveland Business: 20 in their 20s” in 2020 for his work in Lake County.

That year, Mohorcic took some time away from the Lake Development Authority to work with the Lake County commissioners as the board’s director of workforce development and executive director of the Lake County Workforce Development Board.

He returned in 2021 to take on the role of director of planning and development.

Mohorcic, who resides in Willowick, holds a master’s degree from the Levine College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University in 2021.

Executive Director David Anderson added that Mohorcic has been a big part of the team.

“His work ethic, intelligence and enthusiasm will serve him well as he tackles this new challenge,” Anderson said. “I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

Mohorcic’s duties include leading the organization’s bond financing programs for companies with multi-million dollar projects in Lake County, managing real estate assets and serving as Lake County Executive Airport’s CFO.
