Sexual assault, improper conduct investigations at Orrville City Schools involve middle

ORRVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) – Orrville police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are conducting separate investigations against a middle school student for sexual assault, and a high school teacher for improper conduct involving at least one female student.

According to reports from the Orrville Police Department, a male middle school student is alleged to have sexually assaulted a female student on school grounds in early December 2021.

Because both the suspect and victim are minors, police are not revealing their identities.

According to Maria Lambert Markakis, an attorney from Peters, Kalail and Markakis Co., L.P.A., who represents the district, a high school teacher is also currently on leave, pending the completion of a Title IX investigation by OBCI.

As the teacher has not yet been formally charged, their identity has not been released either.

19 News has contacted the OBCI field office in Richfield for more information related to the case.

“The District takes its responsibilities under Title IX and related Board policies seriously, and thoroughly investigates any complaints that are filed,” Markakis stated.
