West Liberty-Salem Schools to Distribute 50 Mobile Hotspots

West Liberty-Salem Schools recently received the Education Connectivity Grant from the state.

The funds will go toward “Project 10 Million” provided by T-Mobile.

This project has provided the district with 50 mobile hotspots to assist West Liberty-Salem school students and their families who have limited or no internet access at home.

Priority will go to students who qualify for free/reduced lunch and have no internet at home.

Like all mobile devices, the quality of satellite connections will vary depending on location. The school system has completed a basic performance review around the area. It appears that the hotspots will work in most homes in the school district.

There is no cost for the hotspots. Each hotspot will be used for education purposes only and is limited to 100GB of data annually. Due to limited data plans, hotspots should only be used by the student(s) and not be used for gaming, watching movies, or other non-educational activities.

Contact West Liberty-Salem Schools by Friday, March 18, 2022, to request a hotspot.

School officials will review all requests for hotspots.

Hotspots will be delivered to those students selected the week of March 28, 2022.

To get more information or to request a hotspot while supplies last, call the school at (937) 465-1060 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. or email Alison Cotrell at [email protected] or Julie Nieman at [email protected]

All hotspots are the property of the West Liberty-Salem School district. If the device is lost, stolen, or damaged, there will be a fee for the replacement cost.
