Website goes live touting 2022 U.S. Senate run for Ald. Chantia Lewis
It looks like there could be yet another candidate weighing a run in next year’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
A website was live Thursday touting the potential candidacy of Milwaukee Ald. Chantia Lewis. The site was later pulled down after it was reported by the Journal Sentinel.
Lewis has not yet filed paperwork to run. The Journal Sentinel has reached out to Lewis seeking comment.
In recent months, Lewis’ name has been quietly floated as a candidate.
The chantialewis4senate.com site called her a “Hometown Girl With a Big Heart” and listed her accomplishments in representing the city’s 9th District.
The biography said Lewis “was elected to represent her neighbors as the Alderwoman in 2016. Then and now she works to earn the support of her constituents by being an active community member and crusader for the District — something that began when she was still just a homeowner and small business operator. Since her election, she believes she has repaid District 9’s confidence in her by vigilantly fighting for her constituents and their interests.”
The website also includes stock images and pages that have not been filled in.
There are already seven Democratic candidates running, with big pushes being made by state Treasurer Sarah Godlewski, Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson and Alex Lasry, on leave from his job with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes appears poised to also join the race.
Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has not said if he’ll run for a third term next year.
