Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen Could Be Coming To Mentor

MENTOR, OH — Mentor residents could soon be eating Louisiana fresh after the city’s Planning Commission approved conditional use permits to allow construction of a Popeye’s on Mentor Avenue.

Proposals for the fast food restaurant to come to town were discussed and approved during Thursday’s Planning Commission meeting. The conditional use permit for the property was approved 6 votes to 0.

“Our goal is to own, develop and operate Popeye’s restaurant at this site,” said Paul Sidhu, of Sidhu Realty Capital, the firm that would run the business. Sidhu spoke during the Planning Commission meeting.

If everything comes to fruition, Popeye’s would occupy the former Wendy’s restaurant space at 7635 Mentor Avenue.

“The City of Mentor works hard to attract and retain businesses in our community. Retail and restaurants play a major role in our economy. We currently enjoy a nearly 94 percent occupancy rate in the retail sector despite the beating that the sector is going through nationally. Most storefronts that empty out, do not stay empty for long,” a Mentor spokesperson said in a statement sent to Patch.
