Class of 2023 combo guard Jahnathan Lamothe talks new schools involved

Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy combo guard Jahnathan Lamothe has had new schools enter the mix. The 6-foot-4 four-star is currently ranked No.46 nationally. As far as his recruitment goes, he plans on making his college decision this summer.

“My recruitment process is going well,” he said. “It’s not as much as it was in AAU because everyone is in season but I’ve been hearing from the same schools mostly. Ohio State, Xavier, Georgetown, Pitt, UCF, Maryland, Marquette, and Georgia Tech have been the schools pushing hard right now.”

Georgetown: “Our relationship is good. They’ve been to a lot of my games and a few practices so they definitely have been involved. Even though their season isn’t going well they’ve still been recruiting me hard and calling me every week.”

Xavier: “I’ve been talking to them all year and our relationship is getting stronger. They’re message is that they love tough guards from the area. They just got Tyrell Ward and they would want me to be a combo guard/tough guard who can score the basketball for them.”

Georgia Tech: “I just started talking with coach Shwartz and they say they like tough guards like me and that they will start to recruit me hard.”

UCF: “The head coach and coach Kevin have started talking to me a lot. He’s from Baltimore so he’s been to a couple games this year. We talk a lot on the phone and they would want me to come in, play my game, be on the ball or off the ball just be a scorer.

As Lamothe begins to close up his junior season, he has somewhat of a timeline for when he wants to make his decision.

“I’ll probably make a list after the first session of EYBL and commit sometime this summer, ” he said. “ Im looking to see what my role would be for the team I choose. I want a coaching staff that’s a family. I want them to be able to coach through tough times and tough decisions and overall just the best place for me and my family.”
