High water causes delays, road closures in the Mid-Ohio Valley | News, Sports, Jobs
PARKERSBURG — Heavy rains Thursday continued to cause minor flooding in the Mid-Ohio Valley, prompting one school in Ohio to close and another in West Virginia to go on a two-hour delay.
In the area around Beverly, the National Weather Service in Charleston issued a flood warning from 9:43 a.m. until Saturday morning as the Muskingum River is expected to crest at 30.1 feet.
The flood Stage is 29 feet in the area.
Noble County was under a flood warning from Friday morning to 4 p.m., and Washington County was under two flood warnings for Friday, 9:11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 2:51 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Noble Local School District closed and went to distance learning and Roane County Schools was running on a two-hour delay, both due to high water.
Roads that were closed included:
* State Route-669 — both directions — from 13th Street to SR-555.
* SR-148 West — beyond Clover Ridge Rd.
* SR-356 — both directions — from SR-356 to Rockcamp Rd.
* SR-56 — both directions — from SR-691 to beyond Dogwood Ridge Rd.
* SR-26 — both directions — from Griffin Hill Rd to Sackett Run Rd.
No road closings were reported in West Virginia.
