Donald ‘Barney’ Hauserman | News, Sports, Jobs


COLUMBIANA — Donald “Barney” Hauserman, 92, of Columbiana, formerly of Rogers, Ohio, and Fort Pierce, Florida passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022.

He was born in Youngstown August 22, 1929 the son of Raymond J. Hauserman and Martha Frazier Hauserman along with a sister Laurabelle and brother Raymond who are all deceased.

He is survived by his deeply loved wife of 72 years Evalyn Thompson Hauserman, 3 daughters; Karen Carey (John) of Gardnerville, Nevada, Donna Mason (Don) of Salem, Ohio and Laurie Trotter of Poland. He leaves 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Barney was a member of Negley Masonic Lodge #565 since 1961, a member of the Clarkson Presbyterian church for 30 years where he served as Trustee, Elder and youth leader.

He and his wife became members of Rogers Mt. Zion United Methodist church in 1984, singing in the choir and was on the Pastor parish relations board and nominating committee.

For many years Barney was in construction and operating heavy equipment. He later was employed at Franklin Furniture as the quality control supervisor and also hauled furniture for Franklin Furniture until they closed. Barney was a hard worker sometimes working 3 jobs at a time to provide for his family. He and his wife opened the Der Blumen Haus floral shop at their home in Rogers for 10 years. Once again retiring they moved to Florida where he became involved in real estate and was recognized as “top salesman” for the Hoyt. C. Murphy real estate company.

Anyone who knew Barney knew that he was the most loving father and husband that a family could ask for and the friend you could always count on.

Barney was a man with a large heart and reached out to many in his life. He loved, respected and cared deeply for his wife Evalyn and their 3 daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Pancake Clarkson Road on Friday, February 11th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Barney’s name to Mt. Zion Church.
