Top stars, best performances in Ohio high school boys and girls basketball (Jan. 3-8) –


Here are some stars from the past week’s boys and girls basketball games across Ohio.

Lanae Riley, Archbishop Hoban girls basketball

Riley had 39 points and nine rebounds in an 83-62 win over Solon and then 27 points and six rebounds en route to Hoban’s 63-40 victory over Olentangy Liberty. 

Beth Hardwick, Cardington girls basketball

Drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Northmor 56-53.  

Jazmin Torres, St. Vincent-St. Mary girls basketball

Had 20 points as the Irish took down Lutheran East 60-38.

Zoe Best, Shawnee girls basketball

Best finished with 21 points, logging 11 points and three steals in the final quarter. Shawnee defeated Spencerville 49-41 to remain unbeaten this season. 

Sinai White, Start girls basketball

Finished with 13 points as Start defeated Whitmer 37-32. 

Cassidy Lafler, Dublin Coffman girls basketball

Lafler led her team with 19 points to take down Gahanna Lincoln 64-40.

Sage Woolace, Stryker girls basketball

Dropped 22 points in Stryker’s 39-34 win over Delta. 

Riley Irwin, Liberty-Benton girls basketball

Scored 14 points for the Eagles as they picked up a road victory against Kalida 40-22.

Emily Bratton, Bloom Carroll girls basketball

Scored 22 points vs. Circleville, recording her seventh 20-plus-point game of the season. 

Mali Thornton, Eastmoor Academy girls basketball

The 5-foot-9 sophomore posted 21 points at Briggs to rout the Bruins 69-17. 

Sam Whitmer, Elder boys basketball

Finished with 12 points and five assists as the Panthers defeated Moeller 46-37. 

Jahlil Graham, Canton McKinley boys basketball

Scored 22 points and hit the buzzer-beater to lift McKinley to a 61-58 win over Jackson.

Ardell Banks, Massillon boys basketball

Had 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in Massillon’s 94-72 win over Northwestern. 

Justin Rupp, Norwayne boys basketball

Led the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds as Norwayne defeated Lucas 53-46 to get its fifth consecutive win. 

Trevor Moss, Orange boys basketball

Moss set a program record for most points in a game with 50 in the Lions’ 75-58 victory over Youngstown Academy For Urban Scholars.

Devin Reese, Streetsboro boys basketball

Finished with 28 points to upset Woodridge 64-57.

Devin Royal, Pickerington Central boys basketball

Had 19 points, four rebounds and two assists in a 58-53 win over Gahanna Lincoln.

Ajay Sheldon, Dublin Coffman boys basketball

Scored a game-high 38 points and grabbed four rebounds as the Shamrocks beat previously unbeaten Upper Arlington 58-52. 

Josh Evans, New Albany boys basketball

The 6-foot-5 small forward was the top scorer with 22 points to power the Bulldogs to a 63-60 win over Teays Valley. 

Trey Robertson, Waverly boys basketball

Dropped 32 points in a win over Portsmouth West, recording his eighth 23-plus-point game of the season.
