Divorce details emerge in Giants’ Sterling Shepard’s separation from model wife

The devil is in the details.

We are learning more about New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard’s divorce from Victoria’s Secret model Chanel Iman, which was first reported Wednesday by TMZ. Among the new bits of information:

The New York Post reports “Court documents, obtained by Page Six, show the pair are divorcing over irreconcilable differences that ‘existed for at least six months’ prior to Shepard’s filing. The documents note there is ‘no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.’”

Here’s more from TMZ:

“Chanel gets sole use of their pad in New Jersey as the divorce winds its way through the court, and he had to remove his personal items from the home, which will now occupy his bachelor pad. … The docs say Sterling also moved out a bunch of weightlifting and other exercise equipment, but it sounds like Chanel will still be able to keep her model figure … the Peloton treadmill and bike are staying put. … While Sterling’s not living at the North Caldwell marital home during the split, the docs say he will continue footing the bill for her monthly living expenses.

TMZ reports that among the gear Shepard packed up was his wardrobe, jewelry, gaming systems, ping pong table, sauna, framed and loose football jerseys, projection TV, couch and computer.

Per TMZ, Shepard filed for divorce in June. The couple, which married in March of 2018, has two children: Cali, who was born in August of 2018 and Cassie, who was born in December of 2019. TMZ reports the couple filed for joint legal custody of their children and “the docs say Sterling and Chanel agreed to not have any romantic third parties spend the night when they’re parenting.”

Page Six reports Shepard requested “his house be his daughters’ primary residence. Notably, he’s also requesting Iman have ‘supervised parenting time’ with the girls.”

In a filing submitted on Sept. 7, the former couple already had completed two mediation sessions and would continue the process. They had a third session scheduled for Oct. 12. There is a case management hearing scheduled for Feb. 23, 2022.

The Giants selected Shepard in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $41 million contract extension in 2019. But Shepard has struggled to stay healthy during his NFL career. He suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the Week 15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. After Sunday, he will have missed 10 games this season. He missed four games in 2020, six in 2019 and five in 2017.
