Thomas D. Borawski 1929-2021 | News, Sports, Jobs


SHARON, Pa. — Thomas Daniel Borawski, 91, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, Pa.

Mr. Borawski was born Oct. 7, 1929, in Farrell, Pa., a son of the late Daniel and Justine Belchik Borawski. He was a graduate of Farrell High School.

Tom honorably served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. During his enlistment, he was stationed in Germany and achieved the rank of staff sergeant.

He was employed as a building master mechanic at Ohio Bell / AT&T, Youngstown.

Tom was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sharon, Pa., where he volunteered his time and skills whenever possible. He was also a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Post 6166, Hermitage, Pa.

An avid golfer, he was in many leagues, including the AT&T League. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Tom was very “handy” and was always willing to help others remodel or fix things.

His wife, the former Marie C. Kopnicky, whom he married Sept. 10, 1955, at the former St. Ann Church, Farrell, Pa., passed away March 31, 2015.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Borawski; a son, Daniel Borawski, both of Sharon, Pa., and Thomas Borawski and his wife Sue, of Obetz, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Justine and Thomas James Borawski.

In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Heller; and six brothers, Raymond, Edward, Chester, Paul, Charles and Albert Borawski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2021, at St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, Pa., with the Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage, Pa.
