966 homes and businesses reported an outage in Belleville in the area bound by Huron River Dr., Savage Rd., Sumpter Rd. and Pebblebrook Drive.

The estimated restoration time is 4 p.m. Wind damage is listed as the reason.

The lights are expected to be back for the vast majority of customers by 11:30 p.m.

Commerce Township, Farmington, Plymouth and midtown Detroit also experienced large outages Saturday, but the lights are back on in those areas.

DTE says downed wires and branches are a likelihood. If you see a downed wire, DTE says please follow the following safety tips:

“-Stay at least 20 feet away from a downed power line and make sure that you and your family, pets and neighbors don’t touch anything it touches – like a fence, or a puddle.

Be sure to call 911 if there is an emergency.

Assume all downed power lines are live and dangerous – even if you don’t see sparks, smell smoke or hear buzzing. Coming in contact with a downed power line, including touching it with an object – like a broom or pole – can result in serious injuries.

Do not drive across a downed power line. If a power line falls on your car, stay inside and wait for help.

Never cross yellow barrier tape surrounding the area of a downed power line.”

Please report the downed wire to DTE Customer Service at 1-(800) 477-4747, through their website or mobile app.
