Biden officially nominated as Democratic nominee for president 

Joe Biden was officially nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate on Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention, which is largely being held virtually this year. 

He was endorsed by two former Democratic presidents, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. 

Mr Biden, who served as vice president under the Obama administration, tweeted his acceptance, writing: “It is the honor of my life to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States of America.”

He will deliver an address on Thursday evening to close the convention.
