COLUMBUS, Ohio – When it needed them the most, Ohio State’s captains rose to the occasion on Saturday.

Fifth-year senior Jackson Reid and senior Jack Myers combined for 11 points as Ohio State outscored Johns Hopkins 4-1 in the fourth quarter to earn a hard-fought 12-10 victory on Saturday in front of 1,970 at Ohio Stadium.

The Buckeyes, winners of two straight, are 8-3 on the season and 2-1 in the Big Ten while Johns Hopkins falls to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten.

The Short Story
Reid, Scott White and Connor Mitchell scored fourth-quarter goals as Ohio State turned a 9-8 deficit into an 11-9 lead with 10:36 remaining. Johnny Wiseman then put the capper on the afternoon, scoring with 7:09 to play and giving the Buckeyes a two-goal lead, an advantage they wouldn’t relinquish.

Reid matched his career high five goals while adding an assist. Myers, meanwhile, had four assists and also scored a goal. Mitchell and Wiseman also scored twice.

Skylar Wahlund made eight saves, including three in the fourth quarter, and Justin Inacio won 14 of the 25 faceoffs he took with seven ground balls.

“It was great to see so many of our alumni today and have a chance to honor them before the game,” said head coach Nick Myers. “We beat a good team today. It’s never easy putting Big Ten wins together. Got some timely goals and did a good job on defense and in goal to make winning plays. We will enjoy this one and get right back to work.”

How the Goals Were Scored

• Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard until more than midway through the first quarter when Jackson Reid took a feed from Jack Myers at 6:09. Myers would assist on two more of Reid’s first-half goals.
• Johns Hopkins led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a Garrett Degnon goal, but the Buckeyes quickly countered at the 12:09 mark of the second quarter with Connor Mitchell’s first score of the season to tie the game at 3-3.
• A two-goal run – with both scores coming from Jackson Reid – midway through the second quarter gave Ohio State its first lead of the day at 5-4.
• The Buckeyes and Blue Jays then traded goals for the remainder of the first half and Ohio State led 6-5 at the break,
• A Connor DeSimone extra-man goal with 2:30 remaining in the third quarter gave Hopkins an 8-7 lead, but Ohio State quickly responded with another tally by Reid to tie the game at 8-8 (1:42). Ryan Evans, however, put the Blue Jays back in front 9-8 one minute later.
• Scott White’s tally, on an assist from Jackson Reid, at 12:26 of the fourth quarter gave Ohio State the lead for good. It was White’s eighth goal of the season and his third in the last two games.
• Wiseman’s goal at 7:09 of the fourth quarter to give Ohio State a 12-10 lead was assisted by Colby Smith.

• Saturday marked Ohio State’s four consecutive wins over Johns Hopkins dating back to the 2019 season.
• Jackson Reid has 13 goals and six assists in the last four games (4.75 points/game). It was the third time this season he’s finished with six points (Ohio State is 3-0 in those games).
• Reid also moved into the top-10 all-time in career points. He’s No. 9 with 162 points on 113 goals and 49 assists.
• Myers’ four assists give him 31 on the season, which is 10th most all-time.
• Ohio State welcomed back its alums on Saturday with a pre-game brunch at Ohio Stadium, Tunnel of Pride before the game begins and a pre-game on-field recognition.
